Bouquets for Days

I've never been one to dream about flowers. Sure, I like to have them in my house but I don't ever wish for them... And then I started looking at them on Pinterest and ended up extremely overwhelmed with options!

Of course we'll start with the classic floral bouquet, which is pretty much always gorgeous!
I think if I was going to choose flowers for this style I'd like sunflowers, although I'd need to have someone arrange them and add flourishes.

I understand why so many brides go for this option but the only thing that worries me is that at the end of the night I'm supposed to throw this very beautiful thing into a bunch of wrestling girls? I adore the idea of being able to keep one flower and pressing it, but what if you were able to keep the whole thing?

From my very tiny bit of experience, I've seen brides end up upset with their ordered bouquets and then have found themselves rushing to a local supermarket or florist to grab a bunch of something pretty. There's nothing wrong with this, of course, but it'd be so disappointing if your flowers arrived incorrect or damaged. For the style of wedding I plan on having, it shouldn't matter either way, but I can understand how devastating that would be for a bride who had colour co-ordinated every part of her wedding.

One of my absolute favourite styles of all time is the paper rose that I see pop up all the time now. There are so many different styles! From realistic looking flowers, to more obviously paper, then there's book pages vs coloured paper, even comic book flowers. There's something for every kind of paper flower lover.

Personally, this style speaks to me because my entire business is run around books and the people who adore them. I think I'd have to go searching in second hand stores for my favourite books so that I knew the pages spoke of happy things or strengthening moments (I'm a bit superstitious) Books like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings would definitely make the list.

This style is perfect for keeping forever. It might even hold up after the bouquet toss and even if it was a tiny bit damaged you could repair it. I just adore the idea of seeing the bouquet I carried down the aisle being a part of my house for as long as possible.

The greenery bouquet! So freaking pretty! These are absolutely perfect if you're not too fussed on flowers and are wanting something more affordable to walk down the aisle with.

These beauties make me think of fairy princesses and magic kingdoms... but maybe I read too much fantasy?

There are so many different options depending on where you live. I've also seen brides carrying wheat bundles, pine cones, and lavender. Something for every style of wedding.

When Josh and I were considering something with a greenery theme I was definitely thinking of a bouquet like this one.

I'm not 100 per cent sure whether these would hold up in a bouquet toss (maybe not) and they definitely wouldn't last very long but you could press elements of them to keep forever which is just as nice.

The brooch bouquet is something that I would never carry as it's just not my style, but it is something that I admire from afar. Look at all the pretties!

I've heard and read stories about brides who collect the brooches from secondhand shops (though I believe you can also purchase them on websites like Etsy) and create them themselves using a styrofoam ball as the centre and the end result is amazing!

I've also seen button versions, Disney pins (which is so sweet, especially if you pick out movies or characters that represent your relationship!) along with a bunch of other ideas.

I'm sure this would handle the bouquet toss (but I'm wondering whether it'd be slightly dangerous to throw... perhaps you'd be in need of some safety glasses) and you'd for sure be able to hold onto it forever, and maybe give elements of it to your kids (if you choose to have them and if they choose to get married)

These can be so beautiful and a eye catching piece for sure!

Trying to Stay Calm...

A little hiccup hit us recently and we're currently without a venue, to say the stress has overtaken everything is a slight understatement. For almost a week now I've been going through google searches, photographer's posts with venue lists, searched Facebook and every other method I can think of to find a venue that'll fit all of the things that we want. We're currently waiting to hear back from a place with so much potential but there's another 2 weeks before we even find out if we can book it.

Dream wedding

I thought that it'd be nice to start this blog out with what mine and Josh's dream wedding is... because why the heck not, right?!

We're pretty casual, I mean, most of our dates are spent at the movies or in our PJ's playing video games. Josh is studying and working, and things at Bookworm Boutique are getting pretty busy so whenever we get the chance to hang out without distractions, we do.

Initially we thought we wanted the big white wedding, the one that every little girl dreams of. Huge dress, seated meal, a magical first dance, delicately placing cake into each other's mouths. But as it turns out... we don't want that so much.

What we actually want is a lot of friends and family, cricket and outside games, shoving cake into faces, and food trucks.

For a lot of venues we could only manage to have 50-60 guests, but when we looked at who we wanted around on our big day it kind of got to more 100-130 people, and why should we compromise on that?

Who knows if the wedding we want is actually achievable, we hope that it is, but we may have to make a few changes here and there.

I'm not saying that the big traditional wedding isn't beautiful, because it is, and I hope that I get to attend a few, but for us and who we are as a couple, this relaxed BBQ wedding is the one for us.
